What areas do you serve?
Our primary service areas are Brentwood, Cool Springs, and Lenox Village, but please feel free to call us if your area is not listed to see if we can accommodate.
How long have you been in business?
Brentwood Pet Sitters was established in the spring of 2005 to meet the needs of pet parents who were searching for convenient way to keep their pets happy and give them peace of mind while they were away from home.
Why use a professional pet sitter/ dog walker?
By allowing your pets to stay in their own comfortable home, with familiar surroundings, you have minimized the emotional stress on your pet during your absence. We keep your pets on a consistent familiar routine and give them individualized attention. They can sleep in their own bed, eat from their own bowl, and . . . keep watch over their neighborhood too.
What is included in pet sitting visits?
Visits include everything your pets need to keep them safe, happy and engaged. For dogs this would include dog walks, interactive playtime, fresh water, and feeding, oral or topical medication and of course lots of love and affection. For cats, visits include litter box maintenance, feeding, fresh water, and playtime (for those kitties that crave interaction). During our initial interview we work with you to set up a personalized pet care plan for each of your pets.
How many times a day will you visit and what times?
During our initial interview we will discuss with you how many a visits a day would be best for your pet family. We require a minimum of two visits per day for indoor dogs but recommend three. Cats are generally happy with one visit a day, but never complain about two. Normal pet visits are between the hours of 7am and 9 pm.
How do you keep my home secure?
The security of your home and pets is our top priority. As a free additional service, we bring in your mail, newspaper, packages, rotate lighting, and take your trash container to the curb on pick up day, giving your home the appearance it is occupied.
What happens if there is an emergency while caring for my pet?
When you complete your client profile, we gather contact information, including that of your designated emergency contact. If you are unreachable and your emergency contact is not responding to phone calls, it is our responsibility to seek care for your pet or secure your home. If a vet visit is deemed necessary, we will take your pet to your regular vet. If your regular vet's office is closed, we will take your pet to a nearby 24-hour emergency veterinary facility.
How do you screen your pet sitters?
First and foremost, all our pet sitters are animal lovers. However, not only are they animal lovers but animal advocates. They have shared their lives and taken into their homes a variety of pet companions. Many of these pets have come from unfortunate circumstances to find permanent homes with our sitters. We know that true animal lovers, will, out of a genuine concern for the pet, make it a personal priority to make visits, make visits on time and be interested in the overall well-being of the pet.
All sitters are required to complete a background check, provide references and are covered under our liability insurance and bonding policies.
I am interested in midday walks; will I have the same sitter each day?
Midday walk clients are generally assigned to one primary sitter. To ensure no disruptions in your service, we prefer to have more than one sitter familiar with your pet.
What if the weather conditions are bad?
If you’ve lived in the Middle Tennessee area, you already know we enjoy the full gamut of extremes regarding weather. From extreme heat and humidity, to tornados, snow, ice and even flooding, our sitters have become quite the weather warriors. We do our best to complete all scheduled visits keeping in mind the safety of everyone.
How do I know how my pets are doing while I’m gone?
We want your time away to be worry-free. Every visit to your home is documented in writing by your sitter detailing what happened at each visit, but we also welcome phone calls or emails.
When is payment due? What form of payment do you accept?
Prior to the start of service, you will receive an email confirmation of your requested service to review. Payment is due on the first visit of the service period. We accept cash, checks, VISA, and MasterCard. If you would like the convenience of paying with a credit card, credit card information will need to be provided prior to your departure.
Is there a cancellation fee? What if I return home early?
A 24 hour notice is required for early return and cancellation of service (for non-holiday reservations). If less than 24 hours notice is given, you will be charged the rate of one visit. After cancellation fees, any remaining balance will be applied to future pet sitting services.
We ask that mid day walk clients call the office prior to 8 am to cancel a daily walk.
What about holiday bookings?
Holiday reservations should be made as early as your plans permit to guarantee availability. All reservations for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years require a 50% deposit at the time of booking. Cancellations 14 days prior to the first visit are fully refundable. No credits will be given for early returns during holiday periods.
There is a $5 per visit holiday surcharge. Please see the holiday listing on our Services page.
Why do you need two sets of keys?
Two working copies of keys should be provided at the Initial Interview to be kept on file for future visits. This allows you to do future bookings quickly via phone or online and gives us a back up should a sitter be unable to get to a visit for any reason.
Can you provide service while other visitors will be in the home?
For the safety of your pets and our sitters, we will not provide services while other persons may be visiting or residing on the property, unless prior approval has been made. Our sitters are bonded and insured. A third party entering your home creates a liability and security concern. We take the responsibility of caring for your pets and home very seriously.
Still have some unanswered questions or just not sure if this pet sitting thing is right for you and your pet family? Give us a call! We love talking with other animal lovers about their pets. Our goal is to help you set up a plan that keeps everyone safe, happy and healthy.
